Giuzel Dunia

The Story

The story "Giusel Dunia" is the adaptation of the folk tale of the same name, as it was recorded by the folklore expert Aristophanes Hourdakis in the book, "Tales from Sitia". It was chosen as it is strongly possessed with natural elements, giving to animals an active role in the story and also often describes natural landscapes.

The Sound

Στον ηχητικό σχεδιασμό της αφήγησης «Γκιουζέλ Ντουνιά», βασικοί άξονες είναι η σπηλιά και ο ουρανός, μαζί με όσους ήχους και ηχοτοπία θα μπορούσαν να συνδεθούν με αυτά. Για τις ανάγκες του σχεδιασμού χρησιμοποιήθηκε υλικό από ηχογραφήσεις των παραδοσιακών οργάνων λύρας, λαούτου και ούτι, καθώς και ηχογραφήσεις πεδίου. Οι ηχογραφήσεις πεδίου πραγματοποιήθηκαν στο γεωπάρκο της Σητείας, στις τοποθεσίες σπήλαιο Άνω Περιστεράς, Φαράγγι των Νεκρών, γεωδιαδρομή νο7, Πηγή της Ζάκρου, αλλά και στο σπήλαιο Βρέικο της ευρύτερης επαρχίας της Σητείας. The Visual

The visualization of the story, as in the other narratives, is based on its sound design and follows the same intention of highlighting the natural environment. Therefore, in the narration of "Güzelle Dünya", the visual shots are the result of external filming in the same places as the field recordings mentioned above, as well as at the locations of Cape Sidero and Ancient Itanos.

The objects-interactive sound sources

The objects of the interfaces, correspond to characters, events and locations of the story. They consist of a gold ring inside a black box, a large stone, a pegasus, an eagle and a small exotic plant. For the purposes of converting the objects into electrically conductive ones (except for the plant which is already electrically conductive), their entire surfaces were covered with black electrically conductive paint, giving them in the same time a unified aesthetic.
